At First Class Sportfishing, Capt. Jose Arias specializes in light tackle inshore flats fishing and backcountry fishing charters. Whether your charter is out of Biscayne Bay, Flamingo Everglades National Park, or the upper Florida Keys, Capt. Jose's main objective is to show you a good time and maximize your opportunity to catch a variety of different species of fish that inhabit our South Florida inshore waters. Flats Fishing- A Unique Adventure
The inshore waters of Biscayne Bay , Flamingo Everglades National Park , and the Florida Keys are full of vast flats that provide food and shelter to many of the species of fish that anglers target on light tackle. A flat is an area of shallow water with a somewhat even bottom that can be grassy, muddy, rocky, or a mixture of sand, grass and gorgonian corals. Bonefish, Permit, Tarpon, Snook , Snapper, Speckled Sea Trout, Redfish, Black Drum , Jacks, Sharks and Baracuda are just some of the many species that you will find on the flats. Flats fishing is a method of specifically targeting these sport fish up on the shallow areas. Stealth, weather, tide, and tackle play a huge role in catching your target species on the flats.
